LOOK OF THE DAY

top / bluzka – COS

trousers / spodnie – MLE Collection (kolekcja jesień/zima)

flats / baletki – Pretty Ballerinas

bag / torebka – Zara

It is a little bit strange that summer is in its full swing, and I've been focused only on sweaters and woollen coats for a couple of days. Most of the models that can be found in MLE Collection for autumn/winter are ready; therefore, the time has come to prepare the advertising campaign. This photo shoot was very different from the photos that I prepare for this blog on a daily basis! Professional equipment, a hired studio, a true model, a multi-person team, and a lot of emotions. Having an opportunity to watch the talented Sonia Szóstak was extremely inspiring – now, I am anxiously waiting for the moment when I can present you with the effects of this photo shoot.

Coming back to the topic of this post – for this day, I chose a simple top with blue stripes and a pair of black cigarette trousers. I also opted for flat shoes because I can't imagine running around in high heels on such a day.

***

Profesjonalny sprzęt, wynajęte studio, modelka z prawdziwego zdarzenia, wieloosobowa ekipa i mnóstwo emocji.

5E1A8354

In Poland, running has become very popular. In 2012, the conducted research had shown that only 36% of the studied women declared that they were physically active on a regular basis. Whereas already in 2015, the group of active women increased up to 48% (research conducted by PKO Bank Polski). This phenomenon is best visible on increasingly crowded running paths and at road running events, in which women of all ages eagerly participate. 3220 women participated in this year's Warsaw half marathon, and in 2013, there were only 1889 women who decided to run in it. Why do Polish women run so eagerly? Seven of my friends have answered this question. Each of them has a different aim, but they choose the same method – running.

***

– Monika, 33, an economist. She completed a marathon (she runs six times a week).

"Running wakes me up and relaxes me; it is a moment just for me. It's like a morning coffee. I leave for the workout early in the morning, when my family is still asleep, and the city is only starting to wake to life. While running, I like observing people on their way to work (in fact, I often meet the same people – we even started to greet each other). I watch light commercial vehicles supplying the shops before the opening hours and services cleaning the city. I run and think about those people – the places they might work at and the type of life that they lead (it relaxes me). However, sometimes I plan the rest of the day, daydream, or simply listen to the sounds of the city. "

– Katarzyna, 35, a lawyer and a member of the local government. She participated in road running events on numerous occasions (she completed a marathon and a couple of other distances). She's been running for 5 years.

"It seems to me that running helps to maintain youthfulness and a smile on my face. I started my journey with running from Samsung Irena Run, and back then, I ran five kilometres in half an hour – I almost died, but I was happy that I'd done it. I wanted to continue my journey with running. I quit smoking, and thanks to a greater dose of exercises – I lost weight. However, over time, my main aim was the improvement of my results. I would like to maintain good physical form and psychological well-being as well as to have contact with nature. I really enjoy running trips to the mountains. "

– Monika, lat 33, ekonomistka.

Oglądam samochody dostawcze zaopatrujące sklepy przed otwarciem i służby sprzątające miasto. Biegnę i myślę o tych ludziach – gdzie pracują i jakie wiodą życie (to mnie relaksuje). Czasami jednak planuję resztę dnia, marzę albo po prostu słucham dźwięków miasta. ”

– Katarzyna, lat 35, prawnik i samorządowiec. Startowała wielokrotnie w biegach ulicznych (przebiegła maraton i kilka innych dystansów).

Rzuciłam palenie, a dzięki większej dawce ruchu – schudłam. ”

– Gosia, 30, a psychologist. Currently, she runs a family company. She completed Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc in 2014. She was twelve in the open classification of women.

"For me, running is a form of meditation. Thanks to it, I can fully clear my mind and distance myself from everyday issues. My friends keep asking me about the things that occupy my mind during those 30 hours of running – honestly? Nothing! I focus on my body, take internal joy in each consecutive kilometre, feel the closeness of nature, and admire its beauty (I run only in the forest and the mountains). I find myself – real me, without a mask. It's a beautiful state which I recommend everyone."

– Alicja, 38, a lawyer by education but inactive. She's been running a company for years – women's nightwear manufacturing. She completed the Rzeźnik Run.

"I started running six years ago. It was supposed to improve my stamina and resilience so that I could be better at other hobbies. I don't even know when running became a passion in itself and a cure for all concerns. When I've got a couple of days without running, I feel that some incredible power is drawing me towards it. Even when I'm very physically tired, my head needs its dose of relaxation. Setting running aims only helps to be consistent in sticking to the plan."

– Aleksandra, 29, a social psychologist. She also completed a marathon.

"For me, running is a way to clear my mind – a moment just for me which when comes to an end always makes me happier. Beating continuously longer distances gives me incredible strength and confidence in myself. In addition to all of that, running has a wonderful influence on our figure and allows us to sin once in a while and eat a chocolate cake without body weight consequences."

– Gosia, lat 30, psycholog. Obecnie prowadzi rodzinną firmę. Przebiegła Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc w 2014r, w klasyfikacji open kobiet zdobyła dwunaste miejsce.

– Daria, 30, a public procurement specialist. She completed a halfmarathon in 1:29:00.

"Nice calves and psychological well-being are not the only reasons for me to run. This sport gives me an opportunity to release anger and negative emotions as well as an opportunity to have a dialogue with myself, wherever I am."

– Małgorzata, 31, a Content Marketing Manager. She has completed so many runs that it is difficult to name them all.

"Already during my studies, I started working in an editorial office, and my lifestyle underwent a sudden change. Sitting for a couple of hours, easy-to-prepare meals (although rather unhealthy and light) at the canteen, and snacks. In addition to that, paradoxically less sleep and simply a considerably smaller dose of physical activity. As a result, I gained about ten additional kilogrammes which imperceptibly sneaked into the recess of my body. I decided to do something about it. I started to pay attention to the quality of the meals and started going to the gym. After a couple of months of reasonably regular workouts, I was close to a breakdown – I was often bored with the gym, and the scales wouldn't even move…I decided to go in a new direction, and I bought my first running shoes. I was quickly completely lost in this type of activity.
Over time, I started to notice other advantages of running: meeting new people, great fun during different running events, the possibility of better and different exploration of new places, participation in exceptional events, and experiencing new emotions (mountain running is irreplaceable), or a better awareness of my body.
Currently, I don't pay so much attention to weight loss, but rather to muscle strength, stamina, flexibility, running technique as well as general health. I have probably become a more conscious runner, and I feel wonderful abouts that!"

There was a time, when each evening, 7 days a week, I was eating Chinese food while watching at least two episodes of cult TV series "Sex and the City." The stories of four protagonists: Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte, under the guise of trivial topics concerning men and clothes, were breaking the taboo and saying more about the customs of a large metropolis than any sociological survey. However, apart from strictly social observations, I was also eagerly focusing on Carrie's original style and mostly on her amazing collection of high heels. Exactly. Not once did I see her in flat shoes through those six seasons.

Today, being almost at Carrie's age in the first season of the cult TV series, I know that wearing twelve-centimetre high heels around the city for the whole day (and     I would like to remind you that Carrie wasn't using a car) is not only completely impossible, but also (and I'm not afraid to state it with confidence) a sign of bad taste. If we want to wear high heels for the whole day (and not go mad somewhere around four pm), they shouldn't be higher than eight centimetres. Today, however, I would like to recommend you an alternative to high heels – check out whether you already have such models in your wardrobes.

***

Historie czterech bohaterek; Carrie, Samanthy, Mirandy i Charlotte pod przykrywką banalnych tematów dotyczących facetów i ubrań, łamały tabu i mówiły więcej o obyczajowości wielkiej metropolii niż jakiekolwiek badanie socjologiczne. No właśnie.

1. Espadrilles – light shoes whose sole is made of wattle. Such model was created for the first time more than 4000 years ago, and it was very practical when it came to cave dwellers' life. Today, espadrilles aren't only ecologists' favourite shoes. Women around the world have appreciated their comfortableness and eagerly wear them during heat waves. My model is by Soludos, but I prepared for you a few other interesting models here, here, and here.

2. Leather flats – it is a good choice if our summer outfits have to fit in a more elegant dress code. However, finding comfortable flats in which our legs look great (and not like duck legs) is not an easy task. They have to be appropriately cut (in the case of wide feet the cuts located on the sides look pretty unflattering) and well-made so that they don't look like slippers after two days of wearing. Models that I have tried out can be found here, here, and here.

3. Sandals – an irreplaceable type of summer shoes. If I were to choose only one model, I would probably choose black or nude ones. It's important to resist buying models with additional adornments as they won't be universal anymore. Models that I have chosen can be found here, here, and here.

4. Minimalist sneakers – it's great if their interior is made of leather. We will also be wearing them in autumn and late spring; therefore, it would be great if they matched our transition clothes. If they are well-made, we should be able to wear them at least for a couple of seasons. Universal models can be found here, here, and here.

Wybrane przeze mnie modele znajdziecie tutaj, tutaj i tutaj

Uniwersalne modele znajdziecie tutaj, tutaj i tutaj.

5E1A7692

However, if we don't want to abandon high heels (so what that they are impractical since they are so exceptional? maybe one is the result of the other?), we should learn to choose well-balanced models and learn how to wear them. If you were searching for instructions concerning "how to wear high heels" or "how to take proper care of your shoes," I recommend you "French Chic on High Heels." In this book, you will find a good deal of advice, guidelines, and anecdotes from brilliant models, stylists, designers, or even shoemakers.

Jagodzianki z twarogiem

1

Summer is incomplete without blueberry buns! Such were your comments under my Friday photo posted on Instagram. At that time, I was experimenting with the dough and today, I can share my new recipe with you. I wanted the dough to be soft, delicate, and very buttery. And it is just like that!

***

I takie wyszło!

2

Ingredients:

Dough recipe:

400 g of flour

150 ml of warm milk

30 g of fresh yeast

50 ml of plant oil

2 eggs

60 g of sugar

80 g of butter

filling approx:

200 g of fresh blueberries

5-6 tablespoons of curd cheese

2-3 tablespoons of brown sugar

Skład:

Przepis na ciasto:

400 g mąki

150 ml ciepłego mleka

30 g świeżych drożdży

50 ml oleju roślinnego

2 jajka

60 g cukru

80 g masła

farsz:

ok. 200 g świeżych jagód

5-6 łyżek twarogu

2-3 łyżki brązowego cukru

3

Directions:

1. Dissolve the fresh yeast in warm milk with a tablespoon of sugar and 2 tablespoons of flour. Put the leaven in a warm place and cover it with foil. After 15 minutes, it should grow a little bit.

2. To prepare the filling: mix the washed blueberries with curd cheese and sugar.

3. Sift the remaining flour, sugar, and eggs into a separate bowl. While adding the leaven, start stirring the mixture. Afterwards, add melted and cooled (not hot!) butter and knead the dough (mechanically with the use of a dough hook). After a couple of minutes of kneading, pour the oil in a thin stream onto the dough and knead again. As a result, the dough shouldn't be sticky. Place the ready dough in a dish and cover it with a linen table napkin. Leave the dough for approx. 1,5 hour until it increases in bulk.

4. Again, knead the risen dough and divide it into 6-9 parts. Take one part and form a ball, flatten it slightly, and place the ready filling onto it. Form an oblong bun and place it on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake everything in the oven preheated to 200ºC for 15-18 minutes.

Comment: In order for the dough to rise faster, place the dish with the leaven on the hob plate and turn on the small burner. We can experiment with the filling, for example: replace the curd cheese with ricotta, sugar with honey, and use some spices – cardamom, cinnamon, or a little bit of lemon zest.

A oto jak to zrobić:

1. Świeże drożdże rozpuszczamy w ciepłym mleku z łyżką cukru i 2 łyżkami mąki. Zaczyn odstawiamy w ciepłe miejsce pod przykryciem folii. Po 15 minutach powinien podrosnąć.

2. Aby przygotować farsz: oczyszczone jagody łączymy z twarogiem i cukrem.

3. Do oddzielnej miski przesiewamy pozostałą mąkę, cukier i jajka. Dodajemy wyrośnięty zaczyn i jednocześnie mieszamy. Gotowe ciasto umieszczamy do naczynia i przykrywamy lnianą serwetką. Pozostawiamy ciasto na ok. 1,5 godziny do wyrośnięcia.

4

Again, knead the risen dough and divide it into 6-9 parts. Take one part and form a ball, flatten it slightly, and place the ready filling onto it.

Look of the Day – dżinsy mamy

The famous "mom jeans," that is blue high waist jeans with loose and slightly tapering legs have returned, and I feel that they will stay with us for a long time. Today, the symbol of the 90s became an irreplaceable element of nonchalant sets because it proves that its owners have some distance to themselves and don't have to highlight all of the assets of their figure. While some claim that such a cut is difficult and not really feminine, on the other hand, it is great for concealing the imperfections of our legs (disproportionate calves, protruding knees, flat buttocks), and besides…it is sooooo comfortable. Celebrities have fallen in love with it (Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Bella Hadid) and even if you sniff at it and think that the trend is not your cup of tea (I also thought like that a couple of months ago), check whether "mom jeans" won't add your wardrobe a little bit of style and won't become a great alternative to skinny jeans – especially now, when we can cuff them and wear with flats and flat sneakers.

***
