Once upon a time, Walt Disney, an American visionary and film producer, decided to create a place where every child would be happy and every adult would have the possibility to become a child again. As it usually happens in case of big dreams, not everything went according to the plan – on his path to this goal, he had to face many obstacles and often experienced the power of human dark nature.

A creature that had changed his life forever was an inconspicuous mouse. He created the first drawing depicting the character shortly after the production company with which he co-operated used a ploy to deprive him of the copyright to the character he had created – Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. He wanted to name the character Mortimer, but his wife, Lillian, firmly opposed this idea and convinced him to use the diminutive form of Michael, namely Mickey. The new animated friend won the hearts of millions of fans and the first of the 22 Oscar Awards that were supposed to go to Walt Disney. Today in Disneyland, Mickey Mouse is treated as the real boss of all bosses. That is how the character is referred to by all staff members who work in the park on a daily basis.

For several decades, special workers, who are a blend of dreamers and engineers, have been designing new places for the guests. While in the process, they pay attention to the finest details that make the whole fairy-tale world look like a real place. You won't find here cardboard houses, trumpery, or trash, and even the most sceptical grumps will talk about how they liked the Star Wars spaceship with excitement after a few hours spent in the park.

When I first reached Disneyland as an adult (previously I visited it when I was seven years old), I was convinced that this place is mostly for children. Well, if it's really the case, then something has to be wrong with me because two days spent in the park seem to me now like a beautiful dream. It's hard to believe that all of that was created because once, a vision appeared in a man's head.

If you'd also like to visit Disneyland in Paris, I've prepared a couple of tips and guidelines that can become helpful.

1. The biggest problem that we come across during a trip around this place is the queues to particular attractions. However, there are number of ways to avoid them. First of all, it's worth using the "fastpass" option that we will find at most frequented places – it's a type of booking. If you decide to stay at one of the hotels belonging to Disneyland, you'll have the opportunity to enter the park and try all the attractions one hour before it opens. If you have such a possibility, you should definitely choose days that are in the middle of the week as the park is visited by fewer people then. Leave the most popular attractions for the evening as most of the guests are doing the shopping or are already leaving the park.

2. Disneyland in Paris (or rather near Paris) can be reached in many different ways. I've already tried three options – a car (with my parents when I was six), a train (two years ago in Brussels), and a plane, using AirFrance. I can guess that most of you will use the last option – it'll be a lot more convenient if your destination is Charles De Gaulle Airport as it is easier to organise some kind of transport from there and the choice is more diversified (the train that stops at Disneyland or a special bus, you'll find more information here). If you come to Paris and you'd like to spend one day in Disneyland, it's best to use the train option (it'll take you only 35 minutes).

3. Tickets purchased at the entrance will be most expensive. Therefore, it's best to buy tickets online – if we plan our trip well in advance, they will simply be cheaper and we'll save some time that we would normally spend in the queue. If you have more time or you are planning to visit the park with children, I recommend accommodation in one of the hotels belonging to Disneyland – the ticket is already included in the price of your accommodation.

4. My photo summary doesn't include photos of the carousels and roller coasters so it may seem that I spent two days on walking around the characters from the tales and dragging some balloons behind me. But the truth is different, I was in a constant rush between a number of attractions so that I wouldn't waste even a minute. However, I didn't want to pose a threat to myself or other guests so I always put my camera in the handbag when I entered a roller coaster. That's why you need to take my word for it – what awaits you in Disneyland will surely impress you and will make you dizzy.

5. Carousels and roller coasters are not the only attractions that can be found in Disneyland. It's worth taking a breakfast at Plaza Gardens Restaurant as it is visited by Disney characters during that time. Without any hesitation, they join the guests and comfortably take photos with them. Apart from that place, you can meet the characters in the whole park. I hope that all of the guests meet Pluto during their visits – he bumps into people and wants them to scratch him behind the ear. He also gives autographs, even though his writing isn't that pretty.

6. A very simple but important advice – plan your outfit for the day and take only the most necessary items with you as you'll spend plenty of time walking (you'll find special lockers at the entrance to the park where you can leave larger pieces of luggage). Choose the most comfortable clothes and a handbag that can be thrown over the shoulder. Oh, and one more thing! It's also vital that you charge your mobile phone – you'll want to take as many photos and films that there's some likelihood you may quickly run out of battery.

7. It's really worth staying at the park until the end – each evening and in all seasons there is a special illumination against the background of the Sleeping Beauty's Castle just before the closing time. It's a little bit like New Year's Eve but with Disney characters – it takes your breath away and makes you want to stay there forever tied to one of the benches.

* * *

Jeśli przyjechaliście do Paryża i jeden dzień wyjazdu chcielibyście spędzić w Disneylandzie to najlepiej skorzystać z pociągu (to zaledwie 35 minut).

Aha! I koniecznie zadbajcie o naładowanie telefonu – będziecie chcieli robić tyle zdjęć i filmów, że w przeciwnym razie szybko padnie Wam bateria.

We landed at Charles De Gaulle Airport as it is the easiest to get from there to the park.

Our first place to visit was the iconic "Sleeping Beauty's Castle". An ideal place to take a commemorative photo.

Pierwszym punktem zwiedzania był kultowy "Zamek Śpiącej Królewny". Idealne miejsce na pamiątkowe zdjęcie.  In Disneyland, you could meet many people who were truly immersed in the fairy-tale ambience. I chose a modest costume, namely Minnie Mouse's ears.

W Disneylandzie można spotkać wiele osób, którym udzielił się baśniowy klimat. Ja wybrałam skromne przebranie czyli uszy Myszki Minnie.  One of the many cafés in the park.

Jedna z wielu kawiarni na terenie parku.  Answering the yet-unstated questions – dogs are forbidden to enter the park. The only exception to this rule is guide dogs. The photo above was taken during a training – you never know when the owners of guide dogs will fancy visiting Disneyland. The dogs have to be trained for such a possibility and they accompany their owners even on the carousels.

Cinderella and her prince. Each day, there is a parade featuring all of the protagonists of Disney's fairy tales – from "Lion King" to "Frozen" – that runs along the main avenue of the park.

Our second day welcomed us with beautiful spring weather.

Drugi dzień przywitał nas piękną wiosenną pogodą.  A bar brought to the park straight from California.

Bar przywieziony do parku prosto z Californi.  Waiting for the sunset and illuminations. I hope that I will visit this place once more. If you have any questions concerning the trip to Disneyland, I'll be eager to answer them in the comments. Have a great weekend!

Udanego weekendu!
