Everyone wants to eat healthily. We may say that we are really good when it comes to theory, however, putting all the rules into practice sometimes exceeds our capabilities. We lack time, strength, and experience in order to prepare five small, nourishing, delicious (and that's most important!), and healthy meals each day. Today's way of living has heavily influenced our nutrition needs. The appearance of companies trying to live up to new expectations was only a matter of time. Diet boxes have quickly become very popular. Food catering companies make our way to a healthier lifestyle quicker (or at least that's what they are boasting about) and save our time – each morning they deliver five meals that are supposed to be eaten throughout the day. They create reduction diets, diets for individuals suffering from allergies, for athletes, for those who would like to lose weight, and for those who sit for long hours in the office. It sounds wonderful, doesn't it? That is why most people using the services of this type of companies are dreaming of their grandma's frikadeller and a hot tomato soup after only a couple of weeks from the beginning of their journey with such food catering. Does box diet really have pure advantages? And how to find food catering that will be appropriate for us?

Brakuje nam czasu, sił i doświadczenia, aby dzień w dzień przygotowywać sobie pięć małych, pożywnych, pysznych (bo to przecież najważniejsze!) i zdrowych posiłków.

The above photo presents an exemplary whole day's menu from "Naturalnie" that I've been testing for the last couple of weeks (you can place orders here). You will find there: for breakfast – chocolate pancakes with vanilla cream and banana, for lunch – pineapple smoothie, tangerines, apples, and some mango, for dinner – rice noodles with shrimps, snap beans, cherry tomatoes, peanuts, and dill, for tea – coconut tapioca with strawberry mousse, and for supper – chilli con carne on iceberg lettuce with tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream.

1. Let's start with the fact that we can never be sure whether the delivered food is fresh and what types of products are in fact used in the preparation process. My friend, an avid fan of healthy cuisine, used the services of many food catering companies. She abandoned one of them when she started to receive a fried egg in the evening every other day and she was always supposed to eat it for breakfast on the following morning. A company that wants to deliver the food one day in advance should immediately raise our suspicion. Not to mention a company that delivers food once every other day – and you can often come across such companies. First and foremost, we should check whether the boxes contain detailed descriptions – if there are no descriptions, that's a bad sign. We can also try to be detectives for a while and check what the place where the boxes are prepared looks like. If it turns out to be a shanty in a shady neighbourhood, it means that our choice was awful. The smell and colour of our food are also indicators of whether the products are fresh. Before we start eating our dinner, we should scrutinise the contents of the box – chicken meat should be white (not yellow or grey), if the fish reeks strongly of the sea, it's better to leave it alone, and lettuce leaves should be bouncy and crunchy.

2. We often drop the boxes already after two weeks because the delivered meals lack versatility. If we know that we will be eating buckwheat groats with banana each Tuesday and Thursday, and we will be getting chicken with rice for dinner and cottage cheese with dill for supper – then we've got the right to be fed up with it. When choosing food catering, we definitely should find one that offers a diverse menu. I've tested a couple of different offers of food catering companies and my biggest problem was that the food always tasted bland and all meals seemed the same after a couple of days. "Naturalnie. Catering Personalny" turned out to be an exception. It promises that the meals will taste as if they were served in the best restaurant (actually, everything was impeccable).

3. And what will happen if our whole days' food supply doesn't arrive? It sounds funny because we won't die from starvation, but no one would like to be in such a situation. Companies are not always that great when it comes to logistics – they are late, don't come at all because this time they forgot about us, bring unsealed boxes, or the food doesn't match the description. Once, my friend's menu promised a burger with fish, and she received mackerel pasta with five bread slices (that is a burger in a DIY version).  My friends recommend the following places: thisthis, and this.

Mojej koleżance w menu obiecano kiedyś burgera z rybą, a dostała pastę z makreli i pięć kromek chleba (czyli burger w wersji DIY).  Moi znajomi polecają to, to i to miejsce.

4. Some of us should forget about this type of diet right away. Food catering isn't economic neither when it comes to time nor money if we've got two children, apart from our cat and our spouse, waiting for us at home. If we have to prepare food for our bundles of joy – then, if we have to spend some time cooking, it's better to prepare food for the whole family. Otherwise, we double the costs. I wouldn't also recommend it to people who often travel because the plan is most frequently based on a period of one month – if a trip comes up, we will lose not only our food, but also money (it rarely happens that the companies are willing to refund the days that we are out of the house). Also, some of us are characterised by um… let's be frank, by a negative character trait, that is gluttony. In such a case, five meals, which are supposed to be eaten throughout the day, disappear before noon. That is a simple way to gain weight and then falsely blame food catering companies.

5. Sometimes, we are the reason why the meals from the boxes aren’t working. The consumption of meals ought to be a pleasant ritual. When we prepare the supper on our own we want to celebrate the moment. The food brought by catering companies is prepared in such a way that the easiest and the quickest way to eat it is cold and straight from the plastic package. It doesn't sound romantic, does it? When choosing the services of one of the food catering companies, we should remember not to cut corners and put at least minimal effort into creating a nice ambience during the meal.

Would I go for this form of nutrition? Yes! In today's world, time is of the essence, and if there exists a way to use two hours of additional time to do a workout or play with my child, I'll be happy to go for it.
