Probably each home has its own tin box full of crisp cookies hidden somewhere in the cupboard. For a rainy day, to improve your mood, for children’s begging, whenever you’re sad, and for unexpected guests. Today’s cookies were baked with the upcoming holidays in mind. Their shape will be ideal for the Easter basket. I’m baking them with my Hania in the Holy Week as they stay fresh for long…and whether they’ll survive until holidays is yet another story! :-P

Ingredients:

(recipe for approx. 15-18 pieces)

250 g of coarse ground wheat flour (it's the best for crisp pastry!)

1 tablespoon of vanilla paste (or vanilla sugar)

120 g of butter

80 g of brown sugar

2 generous tablespoons of vanilla cheese

for decoration:

sugar

Skład:

(przepis na ok. 15-18 sztuk)

250 g mąki krupczatki (do ciasta kruchego ta najlepsza!)

1 łyżeczka pasty waniliowej (lub cukier waniliowy)

120 g masła

80 g brązowego cukru

2 czubate łyżki serka waniliowego

do dekoracji:

cukier

Directions:

1. Sift the flour into a wide bowl (or onto the pastry board). Add sliced butter, sugar, vanilla paste, and vanilla cheese. Knead the dough using rough movements and place it in the fridge for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.

2. Take the dough out of the fridge – cut off a few pieces and form balls that are the size of a plum and then roll them into thin rolls and form small rams (just like in the photo). Sprinkle them with sugar (before sprinkling them, you can apply some yolk on top). Bake the cookies for approx. 25 minutes in the oven preheated to 180ºC (use the oven function with upper and lower heating elements switched on).

A oto jak to zrobić:

1. Do szerokiej miski (albo na stolnicę) przesiewamy mąkę, dodajemy pokrojone na kawałki masło, cukier, pastę waniliową i serek waniliowy. Zdecydowanym ruchem zagniatamy ciasto i odkładamy na 30 minut do lodówki. Rozgrzewamy piekarnik do 180 stopni C.

2. Ciasto wyjmujemy z lodówki – odcinamy kawałki, formujemy kulkę w wielkości śliwki, a następnie rolujemy na cienkie wałeczki i zawijamy z dwóch stron na kształt baranków (na zdjęciu). Posypujemy z wierzchu cukrem (przed posypaniem, wierzch ciastek możemy posmarować rozbitym żółtkiem). Ciastka pieczemy ok. 25 minut w temperaturze 180 stopniach C (opcja: góra-dół).

The crisp buttery cookies are ideal for the upcoming Easter – they can be also adorned with icing pens.
