MLE Collection in Italy– campaign for Spring/Summer 2019

   When I say: Italy, I think: the sun. When I say: Italian women, I think: elegance and femininity. I wanted this year’s MLE Collection to fit into the ambiance of the carefree “dolce vita”.   

   Liguria, Tuscany, and Amalfi Coast are places where you can feel like Sophia Loren with extreme ease. We chose Apulia – a few moments were enough to fall in to love with the vistas and the old cities of this region. This year, however, I stayed at home and sent a fellow team from 2in Creatives to Italy. I hope that I’ll check on my own whether there the designs fit into the ambiance of Italian streets in August :). Two designs entered sales (currently, they are sold out, but at the end of the week there will be more available) and new items from the lookbook will be added each Friday.   Kiedy mówię: Włochy, myślę: słońce. Kiedy mówię: Włoszki, myślę: elegancja i kobiecość. Chciałam, aby tegoroczna kolekcja MLE Collection wpisywała się właśnie w klimat beztroskiego "dolce vita". 

   Liguria, Toskania czy Półwysep Amalfi to miejsca, w których niezwykle łatwo poczuć się jak Sophia Loren. My zdecydowałyśmy się na Apulię – wystarczyło kilka chwil, aby zakochać się w pejzażach i starych miasteczkach tego regionu. W tym roku zostałam jednak w domu, a do Italii wysłałam zaprzyjaźnioną ekipę z 2in Creatives. Mam nadzieję, że w sierpniu sama sprawdzę, czy te projekty pasują do włoskich uliczek. :). Do sprzedaży weszły już dwa modele (w tym momencie są wyprzedane, ale pod koniec tego tygodnia pojawi się kolejna dostawa) i w każdy piątek będą dodawane następne nowości z lookbooka. Czekają też na Was suknie zaprojektowane z myślą o wielkich przyjęciach – koniecznie je zobaczcie nim sezon ślubny rozkręci się w najlepsze, bo sama wiem, jak ciężko jest wtedy znaleźć odpowiednią kreację.

   Good ideas should be pursued – that’s why this year, I went back to the well-tried Easter recipes. The table featured: stuffed eggs, white sausage with pears braised in dark beer, or Provencal bean by my mum. On that occasion, I also looked at last year’s  "Look of the Day" – this probably proves that I don’t like changes as I put on a similar dress that varied only in colour ;).   

   Even though you’re probably after the Easter breakfast (I was able to sit on the sofa and eat the last piece of mazurek), I’d like to wish you all the best for Easter. Have some rest and, of course, enjoy the time with your nearest and dearest :).

   Z dobrych pomysłów trzeba korzystać – dlatego w tym roku wróciłam do sprawdzonych przepisów wielkanocnych. Na stole wylądowały: jajka faszerowane, duszona na ciemnym piwie biała kiełbasa z gruszkami czy fasolka po prowansalsku mojej mamy. Przy okazji zerknęłam na zeszłoroczny  "Look of the Day" – chyba faktycznie nie lubię zmian, bo włożyłam wtedy identyczną sukienkę różniącą się jedynie kolorami ;). 

   Chociaż jesteście już pewnie po świątecznym śniadaniu (mi udało się właśnie usiąść na kanapie i dojeść ostatni kawałek mazurka) to przyjmijcie ode mnie najserdeczniejsze życzenia Wesołych Świąt. Odpoczywajcie i cieszcie się tym czasem z bliskimi :).

Look of The Day – czy Normcore nas uratował?

   “Normcore”, which is the style of an unpretentious normal-looking person, became a seasonal curiosity some time ago. Something that was initially supposed to be the opposite of fashion has finally become part of it, chewed up and spat in an over-the-top form. Terry crew white socks combined with rubber mules took pride of place among the street style photos from Milan or Paris. It was supposed be more “slow”, but the result was far from spectacular.   

   Despite the effort, the world of fashion didn’t discourage me from wearing “exceptionally regular clothes”. It is the seventh season in a row that I’m taking my trench coat out of my wardrobe, the third season when I’ wearing these high-rise jeans, not to mention the Converse sneakers as I had a similar model already during studies. A slightly different handbag and a short blouse uncovering the belt (to freshen up the proportions of my figure) are sufficient changes for me. Functioning in a world where the majority is trying to be extraordinary thanks to clothes, I enjoy staying in the realm of ordinariness.

   "Normcore", czyli styl na "hardcorowego normalsa", jakiś czas temu stał się sezonową ciekawostką. Coś, co miało być przeciwieństwem mody, zostało przez nią wchłonięte i wyplute w przerysowanej formie. Frotowe białe skarpetki do połowy łydki, połączone z gumowymi klapkami, świeciły triumfy wśród streetstylowych zdjęć z Mediolanu czy Paryża. Miało być bardziej "slow", ale wyszło jak zawsze. 

   Mimo tych usilnych starań, świat mody nie zniechęcił mnie do "wybitnie przeciętnych ubrań". Siódmy sezon z rzędu wyciągam z szafy mój trencz, trzeci sezon wyciągam te dżinsy z wysokim stanem, o conversach nie wspominając, bo identyczny model miałam już na studiach. Trochę inna torebka i krótka bluzka odsłaniająca pasek (tak aby odświeżyć proporcje sylwetki), to dla mnie wystarczające zmiany. Funkcjonując w świecie, gdzie większość próbuje być nadzwyczajna dzięki ubraniom, ja lubię uciekać w normalność.

   Maybe you’ve noticed that Instagram has been lately taken over by beige. On my favourite profiles, I can see all possible hues of this colour – from delicate powdery and porcelain through sandy, caramel, and coffee shades. And I’m not talking about clothes usually matched with other pieces to create a beige “total look”. The fashion for nude has taken over interiors and our makeup. Even influencers’ photos are photoshopped to veer more into the cappuccino palette.   Beiges have always been considered a difficult colour as inappropriately chosen, they may highlight our under eye dark circles and red spots on our face. However, appropriately matched, they give the impression of exclusiveness (warm-toned hues are safer). In the upcoming season, we can abandon the classic combination with black and replace it with white.

   Być może zwróciłyście uwagę, że Instagramem zawładnął ostatnio beż. Na moich ulubionych profilach cały czas pojawiają się wszystkie jego odcienie – od delikatnie pudrowych i porcelanowych przez piaskowe, po karmelowe i kawowe. I nie mam tu na myśli tylko ubrań, łączonych zwykle w beżowy „total look”. Moda na „nude” ogarnęła też wnętrza i nasze makijaże. Nawet zdjęcia influencerek są przerabiane w taki sposób, aby wszystko wyglądało jak oblane cappuccino.
   Beże uznawane były zawsze za trudny kolor, bo źle dobrane mogą nieładnie podkreślać sińce i zaczerwienia na naszej twarzy, ale umiejętnie łączone dają wrażenie ekskluzywności (bezpieczniejsze są odcienie w ciepłej tonacji). W zbliżającym się sezonie możemy odejść od klasycznego zestawienia z czernią i zastąpić ją bielą.

   In the recent week, I stood in front of the shelves with clothes that I hadn’t worn for the last couple of months due to pregnancy belly. Didn’t I get used to myself so much by any chance that I am unable to modify anything? The same cashmere sweater, the same trousers, the same handbag and sunglasses – so much time has passed, so much has changed, and I’m still wearing the same pieces. I’m not really keen on throwing anything out as these are great and high-quality clothes, but what should I wear to break the old style and avoid creating copies of my own outfits from last year or two years ago?

   I go to Zara website – the synonym of quick fashion – and I’m trying to grasp what the brand is trying to palm off on us this season. I immediately notice a long beige ankle-length coat as it is the colour that I love and the cut that is very in vogue right now, and it’d be futile to look for something like that in my closet. I matched it with suede slingback shoes and I can turn a blind eye to the grey sweater and black trousers.

   W ostatnim tygodniu stanęłam przed półkami z ubraniami, których w związku z ciążowym brzuchem, nie nosiłam przez ostatnich kilka miesięcy.  Czy przypadkiem nie przyzwyczaiłam się do siebie samej tak bardzo, że nie umiem już nic zmodyfikować? Ten sam szary kaszmirowy sweter, te same spodnie, ta sama torebka i okulary – minęło tyle czasu, zmieniło się tak wiele, a ja wciąż noszę to samo. Nie mam ochoty niczego wyrzucać, bo to fajne i dobrej jakości rzeczy, ale czym je przełamać, aby nie tworzyć kopii własnych strojów sprzed roku czy dwóch? 

Wchodzę na stronę Zary – synonimu szybkiej mody – i patrzę co też próbuje nam wcisnąć na ten sezon. Długi beżowy płaszcz do kostek od razu rzuca mi się w oczy, bo to kolor, który kocham i krój, który jest teraz bardzo na czasie, a próżno szukać czegoś podobnego w mojej szafie. Do tego zamszowe półbuty z wycięciem i już nie patrzę się tak krzywo na ten szary sweter i czarne spodnie.
