I've prepared today's post mostly keeping those readers in mind who have been asking me for a post with a wedding reception outfit for a very long time. It took me a while because I wanted this post to be authentic, and I preferred to wait until I really would have to pick something for a whole-day event rather than dress up and play the part of a wedding guest for you (I know that many bloggers do such things, but isn't it a little bit strange – what's you opinion on that?).
As you know, being pragmatic is my second name; therefore, when it comes to wedding receptions I try to do my best to adjust the outfit to the situation. My dear friend decided to organise this important event in the open air. I know her very well, and I knew that the atmosphere of the wedding reception wouldn't have even a modicum of pretentiousness. Evening and formal dresses could be inappropriate for the overall ambience of an open-air event (especially, that the day was sweltering); therefore, I chose long flowy dress in a muted colour (in MLE, you can also find a navy blue version) and a pair of suede sandals.
All types of principles concerning clothes for weddings and wedding receptions (those generally accepted, and those which I started to implement after a period of "trial and error") are described in detail in my book, and all the readers interested in this subject can read about it in the chapter entitled "Special occasions," page 122. Below, I pasted an excerpt – maybe it will be helpful for some of you.

Wedding receptions are the most frequent occasions of this type. I love them, and I am extremely happy each time when one of my acquaintances or someone from my family invites me to such a ceremony. I know that I am not the only one who feels like that. It is a particularly exciting event, not only for the young couple but also because everyone wants to look exceptionally. Exceptionally, that is different than usually and different from others. The desire to feel exceptional may, however, be misleading, as it is easy to lose yourself in the search, lose common sense and appropriate proportions. Wedding house is a place where we can meet the greatest number of fashion fails per square metre. From too short and close-fitting dresses to horrible hairstyles with fine curls, whose owners turn into involuntary caricatures of the protagonists of Sense and Sensibility, to snow-white outfits which become a competition for the bride's wedding dress, which is a particular faux pas…”

Dzisiejszy wpis przygotowałam przede wszystkim z myślą o tych Czytelniczkach, które od dawna prosiły o wpis z propozycją stroju na wesele. Trochę to trwało, bo chciałam aby wpis był wiarygodny i wolałam poczekać do momentu, w którym naprawdę będę musiała wybrać coś na całodniową imprezę niż przebierać się i odgrywać dla Was rolę weselnego gościa (wiem, że wiele blogerek tak robi, ale jak myślicie, czy jednak nie jest to odrobinę dziwne?).
Jak wiecie, pragmatyzm to moje drugie imię więc w przypadku wesel też staram się maksymalnie dopasować strój do sytuacji. Moja droga przyjaciółka postanowiła to ważne dla niej wydarzenie zorganizować na świeżym powietrzu. Znam ją doskonale i wiedziałam, że klimat wesela nie będzie miał w sobie nawet krzty zadęcia. Wieczorowe i zobowiązujące sukienki mogłyby nie wpisywać się w klimat imprezy na łonie natury (zwłaszcza, że z nieba lał się żar), dlatego wybrałam lejącą długą sukienkę w zgaszonym kolorze (w MLE znajdziecie też wersję granatową) i zamszowe sandałki.
Wszelkiego rodzaju zasady ubioru na ślub i wesele (te ogólnie utarte oraz te, do których doszłam sama drogą "praktyki"), bardzo szczegółowo opisałam w "Elementarzu" i wszystkie Czytelniczki zainteresowane tym tematem odsyłam do lektury rozdziału pod tytułem "Wielkie wyjście" strona 122. Najczęstszą tego rodzaju okazją są wesela. Uwielbiam je i za każdym razem cieszę się, gdy ktoś z moich znajomych lub rodziny zaprasza mnie na taką uroczystość. Wiem, że nie jestem w tym odosobniona. To naprawdę ekscytujące wydarzenie, nie tylko dla pary młodej, i dlatego każdy chce wyglądać wyjątkowo. Wyjątkowo, to znaczy inaczej niż zwykle i inaczej niż wszyscy. Pragnienie wyjątkowości może nas jednak zwieść na manowce, bo w jej poszukiwaniu łatwo się zatracić, zagubić zdrowy rozsądek i właściwe proporcje. Dom weselny to miejsce, gdzie spotkać można największą liczbę wpadek modowych na metr kwadratowy. Od za krótkich, obcisłych sukienek, przez koszmarne fryzury w drobne loczki, których właścicielki zmieniają się w mimowolną karykaturę bohaterek Rozważnej i romantycznej, po śnieżnobiałe kreacje konkurujące ze ślubną suknią panny młodej, co jest szczególnym nietaktem…"
