Designer apparel has been a hot topic among women for quite some time. Many of us think that it's a complete waste of money and that owning such clothes is a blatant sign of vanity. To be frank, flaunting labels ostentatiously is something that each of us should avoid as it is a proof of bad taste and snobbery. But does it really mean that upmarket goods should stay off our radar? Is there really nothing more behind the luxury logo? When is it worth spending more and when is it worth putting your money into something else?
– There is a lot of talk about the fact that shoes created by top designers are considerably different from the pairs that we can find in chain stores. Their production usually entails the use of the most delicate lambskin, the shoes are perfectly balanced (owing to which high heels don't slip off our feet and are extremely comfortable), each hem is executed with great attention to detail, and the shoes look simply beautiful on their owner's feet. However, there is one substantial disadvantage – they quickly wear out. Therefore, if you've already decided that you want to purchase your dream pair by Gianvinto Rossi, you need to be aware that you shouldn't wear these shoes to work on a daily basis. And if you're going to wear them on really rare occasions, you should choose a classic model. In such a way, you will avoid becoming fed up with them after two seasons. I advise against buying the lately popular designer sneakers and sports footwear – these will soon go out of fashion – and wear out equally quickly. – When we're talking about companies specialising in specific fields, it's worth investing in the label. It's better to buy running shoes in Nike or Adidas stores rather than in Zara, as the technological solutions of the former two will be more advanced. Such companies allocate greater financial outlays to make their products stand out quality-wise. The same can be said about skiing clothes and undergarments.
– I imagine that whenever you read an article on fashion websites about the fact that it's worth investing money in designer clothes, you usually roll your eyes and ponder whether the editors are aware of the meaning of the word "investment." In the light of article 3 section 1 item 17 of the Accounting Act, investment is the ownership of assets that are used to attain economic benefits resulting from the value increase of these assets. And it's rather unlikely that you'll sell your Jil Sander coat after three seasons for a price that is higher than its original price. Only in very specific cases (when it comes to limited editions or auctions) can we count on profit from the sale of used clothes and accessories. Yet, it's true that some elements of wardrobe can be sold at a small loss even after many years. Handbags are of course on the front line here. Then, we've got dresses, shoes, outerwear, trousers, sweaters, and, finally, undergarments.

– Już w czasach starożytnych najlepsi rzemieślnicy oznaczali swoje produkty własnym znakiem. Dzięki temu, potencjalny kupiec wiedział, że wyrób wyszedł spod ręki odpowiedniej osoby i tym samym jakość będzie na wysokim poziomie. W świetle art. 3 ust. 1 pkt 17 ustawy o rachunkowości inwestycja jest to posiadanie przez jednostkę aktywów w celu osiągnięcia z nich korzyści ekonomicznych wynikających z przyrostu wartości tych aktywów. A mało prawdopodobne, abyś swój płaszcz od Jil Sander, po trzech sezonach, sprzedała drożej niż za cenę jego zakupu. Tylko w bardzo szczególnych przypadkach (przy limitowanych edycjach czy licytacjach) możemy liczyć na zysk ze sprzedaży używanych ubrań i dodatków. Obydwie prezentują się dobrze, torebka z sieciówki, mimo znacznie niższej ceny, jest wykonana naprawdę starannie (co rzadko się zdarza w przypadku sieciówek), ale ta pierwsza jest zdecydowanie bardziej elegancka.

It's a really nice feeling when you come across a dress that costs PLN 30 in a chain store, but I, a person who has lately ventured into the world of clothing production, can immediately see the red signal in my head. If it's extremely difficult for me to negotiate PLN 60 for a simple dress in a Polish sewing workshop with quite a high number of orders (and I need to include the cost of the fabric, transportation, and packaging), then how is it possible for companies that sell their products at tenfold lower prices to save on anything? They surely save on everything apart from the margin. It's worth keeping that in mind and trying to become a mindful consumer.

Jeśli za uszycie najprostszej sukienki, przy całkiem sporej liczbie zamówionych sztuk, w polskiej szwalni z trudem udaje mi się wynegocjować cenę sześćdziesięciu złotych (a do tego dochodzi jeszcze przecież koszt materiału, transportu czy opakowań) to na czym oszczędzają firmy, które mogą pozwolić sobie na dziesięciokrotnie niższą cenę produkty? Z pewnością na wszystkim poza marżą. Warto o tym pamiętać i starać się być świadomym konsumentem.
At my home, sweet dumplings – especially those with blueberries, sour cream, sprinkled with sugar – are the greatest delicacy! Whenever I prepare them, my family is insatiable. Are you fans of sweet dumplings as well?
Directions:
Roll the dough out on the pastry board and cut out circular pieces (e. g. with the use of a glass). Place some curd cheese and a raspberry in the middle of each piece. Fold the pieces in half.
Use your finger to dab a little water around the edge of each piece before sealing. Here you will find a short film on how to create the flounce that you can see in the picture.
